What are hair extensions?
Hair Extensions is the term used when you fuse, lock, weave, braid or bond human or synthetic hair to your own. Hair Extensions are considered semi-permanent, as opposed to say a wig, which you can take off at night. Clip-in extensions can be taken off at night, but are still considered extensions.

Hair extensions come in many colours, textures, styles and lengths to match any hair type. Natural or human hair extensions are more expensive because they can be coloured, set, curled or treated. Synthetic hair will melt if exposed to the high temperatures of a curling iron or a hot blow dryer; it is used as purchased, and is generally not recommended.
An inexperienced extensionist can make poor choices that could result in damage to your own hair. The wrong type of extensions, the wrong method of attachment, or a poor job of attachment can break off your hair. The extensionist should know how to carefully test your hair for strength so that it is not taxed by the method used. Cutting, placement and many other factors come into play to get a natural, great looking head of hair.
Tips and warnings

Stay away from really cheap hair because it will not last as long and the quality is poor.
Human hair can be dyed, curled, set, etc. but remember not to apply heat or hair products to synthetic as this will completely damage the hair.
